Amazonite

Tropical Teal

Amazonite captivates with its radiant blue-green glow, reminiscent of tropical paradises. With its cheerful appeal, it is a special eye-catcher that complements both the little black dress and elegant summer looks.

As early as the 18th century, amazonite was described as "green feldspar." Its distinctive color is caused by irregularities in the crystal lattice and ranges from blue-green to a delicate, translucent green. The amazonite used by BERND WOLF comes from India.

History

The German naturalist Alexander von Humboldt (1769 to 1859) chose the name amazonite after seeing Amazons in a village on the Rio Negro during his expeditions in South America who wore the mineral as a necklace – hence the alternative name Amazon stone. The gemstone was used as an ornamental stone throughout pre-Columbian culture, but the Egyptians also created valuable art and cult objects from it.
