BERND WOLF gold plating combines the beauty of almost pure gold with high-quality 925 sterling silver. In our studio near Freiburg, every piece of jewelry is electroplated in an elaborate multi-layer process – for a warm, sunny gold tone and a particularly durable surface.
Pure gold on the skin
Our gold-plated pieces are crafted in our workshop using several carefully applied layers of 999/1000 pure gold over sterling silver.
This ensures that only pure gold comes into contact with the skin. For over 35 years, the experiences of our customers have confirmed the high level of compatibility of our premium gold plating. The ideal solution for those who value material quality, skin-friendliness, and comfort in their jewelry.
Familiar precious metals. Unique structure.
In terms of materials, we use the exact same precious metals that are also used in traditional goldsmithing for solid gold jewelry:
Silver · Copper · Palladium · Gold
The difference lies in the construction. While various metals are combined (alloyed) in 18-karat or 14-karat gold jewelry, a layer of pure gold forms the visible surface that comes into contact with the skin in BERND WOLF PURE GOLD PLATED jewelry.
For favorite jewelry that lasts
For us, gold plating is much more than just the color of a piece of jewelry. What matters to us is the meticulous, multi-layered construction and the exceptional quality of the surface.
The use of gold with a very high fine gold content creates the characteristic warm, sunny gold tone that gives BERND WOLF jewelry its special radiance.
Gold from certified sources
BERND WOLF gold plating, made from 999/1000 pure gold, is exceptionally durable and highly skin-friendly. The gold used for the plating comes from certified sources and is recovered as placer gold.

Quality that we have tested
Electron microscopic examination

How high-quality is the construction of our BERND WOLF gold plating really?
To have this objectively assessed, identical pieces of jewelry were finished with comparable gold plating and a palladium barrier layer by two renowned electroplating companies in Pforzheim.
Subsequently, the surfaces were independently examined.

Regular testing has made our gold plating this durable
Through regular testing under extreme temperature conditions and in our sulfur chamber, we have continuously developed and optimized our gold plating. The result is a particularly resistant and long-lasting layer structure.
BERND WOLF gold plating
The cross-sectional electron microscope image illustrates the exceptionally thick and uniform layer structure of BERND WOLF gold plating. This serves as documentation of the high quality of our finishing process. The homogeneous structure of the gold layer hinders the diffusion of silver atoms to the surface, thereby reducing the risk of the jewelry tarnishing.
Pforzheim electroplating company 1
With the same gold plating thickness and identical layer structure, cracks became visible under the electron microscope. In these areas, the jewelry tarnishes significantly faster.

Cracks in the gold plating were also found in electroplating operation 2. These facilitate the diffusion of silver atoms to the surface and can consequently lead to rapid tarnishing of the piece of jewelry.
Premium quality down to the last detail.
From the selection of materials and the multi-layered gold plating process to the final finishing, our pieces of jewelry are created with a clear aspiration:
Favorite pieces of jewelry with a unique design and long-lasting quality.
