Peridot
Fascinating shade of green
Peridot delights with its luminous, light green hue and is considered a particularly pure variety of the gemstone olivine. Thanks to its exceptional transparency, it is predominantly processed with a faceted cut. The numerous facets allow the light to reflect impressively, creating a fascinating play of color with shimmering green tones.
Combined with BERND WOLF’s warm, sunny gold plating, peridot unfolds its elegant radiance in a particularly harmonious way. The intensity of its characteristic green tone is determined by the iron content within the crystal. As one of the few gemstone varieties, peridot occurs exclusively in this single color shade.
Effect
The peridot is said to protect the wearer from negative influences, create a harmonious aura, and is associated with the heart chakra. This special gemstone is reputed to promote feelings of happiness and self-confidence.
History
Peridot has been valued as a gemstone for more than 2,000 years. As early as Ancient Egypt, it was mined on the island of Zabargad in the Red Sea and highly prized for its exceptional, vibrant green color. Historical sources report that peridot was among the most coveted gemstones of antiquity and was referred to by the Egyptians as the "gem of the sun." To this day, it is considered one of the most traditional green gemstones in the world.
