History

Ruby-zoisite, also known by the name Anyolite, is a comparatively recent gemstone. The striking interplay of red ruby and green zoisite was discovered in 1954 near Longido in northern Tanzania. Due to its extraordinary color contrast, the stone quickly gained international renown and has since been prized for jewelry, sculptures, and artistic decorative objects. To this day, Tanzania is considered the most significant source region for ruby-zoisite.
