The freshwater pearls used by BERND WOLF originate from China. To ensure that only pearls of exquisite quality are selected, Bernd Wolf travels to China personally twice a year to hand-select the finest specimens on-site. Large, round Chinese pearls are cultivated by removing pearls, grinding them round, and re-implanting them. Keshi pearls are irregular in shape; they occur naturally during pearl cultivation, for instance when mussels fill the gaps where pearls had previously grown. Depending on the type of pearl and the desired size, the growth period ranges between 15 and 72 months.

History

For thousands of years, the pearl has been considered a coveted and precious piece of jewelry. The first records mentioning pearls date back to 2206 BCE. From the discovery of the New World until the 19th century, the USA was a significant source of freshwater pearls. Many stories and myths surround this extravagance of nature, which has lost none of its fascination even today.
